Skkawliens, SKKAW.BLOG is headed to San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) Special Edition! This year I will be covering SDCC on my own, and I thought it would be fun to discuss my plans to attend this more intimate gathering of the world’s biggest comic and popular art convention.
Safety First
- Face mask required: All visitors, staff, volunteers will be required to wear masks that completely cover their nose and mouth, regardless of vaccination status.
- Proof of Vaccination required: All guests are required to show proof of full COVID-19 vaccination or a negative coronavirus test.

SDCC Attractions
Of course there are more than a few events and exclusives I’m looking forward to checking out. Here’s a short list below.
- The SDCC Special Edition Funko Exclusives.
- Visiting the Gundam Base Pop-up, the first Gundam Base installation to come to North America.
- Maybe getting one of the Loki Alligator Pins from Toynk, a SDCC Special Edition (limited to 200 pieces)
- Attending the Lumpia with a Vengeance exclusive screening. A double screening of the sequel to Lumpia 2003, an Asian American action-comedy by director Patricio Ginelsa.
- Traveling back in time to the La Brea SDCC Special Edition offsite. A pop-up that transports fans of the La Brea NBC show back to 10,000 B.C., including iconic features from the show.
- Proving my worth at the Peacemaker Proving Ground – I hope this Skkawlien can stack up against the Peacemaker obstacle course.
SDCC Experiences
Aside from the above, no SDCC experience would be complete without:

- Booth pop-ups and displays – same as above, 2019 and 2018 had some awesome pop-up installations, hoping this year will be great too
I am so looking forward to going to this special event this year and comparing my experience to the larger events of the past. Even if this is going to be a smaller event, whatever happens, it’s going to be an amazing con!
