What is more fun than attending Dragonsteel Nexus in cosplay on your own? Attending in cosplay together with friends of course! And that’s exactly what our team did on the last day of Dragonsteel Nexus this year. Do join me as I take you through our adventure cosplaying together through Dragonsteel Nexus 2024.
A Friendship Strengthened by Dragonsteel
When I say we, I mean myself and our Writer extraordinaire Justin (@justinadamwrites). Justin and I have been friends for many years now. And in fact, it is this very blog that our friendship is built on. Our friendship started when Justin began contributing to this as early as 2019. Here’s a photo of me and Justin from SDCC 2019:
Justin also recently became a Brandon Sanderson fan . . . I may have had something to do with that haha. BTW, Brandon Sanderson himself inspired me to start this blog. So in that way, I believe I can say our friendship has been strengthened by Dragonsteel!
Mistborn Era 2: Wax and Wayne
For our cosplay, we decided to go as Wax and Wayne from Mistborn Era 2. Without giving away too much from the Mistborn book series, Wax and Wayne are basically best friends, having many exciting adventures in Brandon Sanderson’s books. Kinda similar to our own con adventures! So we thought it super appropriate for us to go as them for our Cosmere inspired cosplay.

I am an fan of what I like to call “practical cosplay”. Both Justin and I both chose to put together our cosplay based on clothes and props we had on hand. Plus a few things here or there to add our own personal touch to what we both wore.
We think our cosplay, especially together, ended up looking great!
Cosplaying OUR way through Dragonsteel Nexus 2024
What made cosplaying together around Dragonsteel Nexus 2024 so much fun was encountering other cosplayers as the con:

Dragonsteel Cosplay Showcase
And the highlight of our duo cosplay experience was sharing it in Dragonsteel’s largest panel hall: Roshar. To showcase our Wax and Wayne cosplay, we walked along a long catwalk in front of all to see. We hadn’t planned on walking the catwalk that afternoon, so we were both a bit nervous and excited. We just told ourselves to have fun with it. . .
And as you can see we did!
It was a blast, I’m so glad we decided to just jump on the catwalk and showcase our cosplay! As an additional bonus, we even got to meet Magic The Gathering YouTuber Taalia Vess!
