The highlight of my Thursday at Comic Con was meeting Erika Slaughter from Something is Killing the Children, a BOOM! Studios comic.
When I spotted @katies_cosplaying_again (cosplay shown above) I knew I had to snap a photo so I approached her and her partner and asked. Not only did I get a photo, but they also handed me some free swag (a red bandanna) and an invitation. They instructed me to fill out the invitation and return it to an ornate box at the BOOM! Studios booth.
Upon receiving these gifts, I thanked them profusely. But I was so curious what the invitation was for. I asked if it was for a secret offsite party or activation, but they told me they couldn’t reveal anything and that I would have to wait for the email.
So, I filled out my invitation immediately and dropped it at the ornate box that I found on a counter at the BOOM! Studios booth.
Later I noticed on social media that they were posting their location periodically so that fans could find them and get free swag and invitations. Funny enough, I ran into them accidentally two more times over the next three days.
At the time of writing this, I still don’t know what the invitation was for. I haven’t received any emails from BOOM! Studios. I’m really hoping that it is still on its way! As soon as I learn more, I will be sure to update y’all here.
I’m curious what y’all think this could be an invitation for? I speculated with my partner that it could be access to a special early release of something related to the comics or some kind of special event. At this point, your guess is as good as mine!
No matter what it ends up being, I thought the way they planned and executed the giveaway and special invitation was fun. Like a good comic book cliffhanger, it left me wanting more.
