Hello fair travelers of the Cosmere! Brandon Sanderson’s premier convention: Dragonsteel 2023 is almost upon us, and having attended Dragonsteel 2022, I’d like to share 5 things you may find helpful before your trip to Dragonsteel 2023. So before you do a Wit and visit another place in the Cosmere-verse, check out SKKAW.BLOG’s Dragonsteel 2023 pre-con tips below:
5 Things to Know before Dragonsteel 2023
- Dress for comfort: Even if you’re in cosplay, it would help if you bring walking shoes, warm clothing you can carry or pack, and a bag that is comfortable to carry. I found that it was helpful to bring a warm jacket, or layers you can easily remove.
- Stay informed: Brandon Sanderson signings are limited, but opportunities are available. Always check the Dragonsteel website, or subscribe to Brandon Sanderson’s Youtube channel for up-to-date info. For example, he recently announced a new Lightning Signing opportunity that wasn’t available at last year’s con:
- Make a list: There are so many more authors and artists in attendance on top of Brandon Sanderson himself. Be sure to check out the full list of exhibitors at the official Dragonsteel Convention website. I was very happy to meet different authors and artists from the show:
- Set a Budget: If you’re on a budget, it may help you to plan head. Try to decide what sorts of merch you’d like to buy, and set aside a little extra for things you may not be aware of. There will be A LOT of exclusive merchandise at the convention, and the costs can add up pretty quickly! So planning a budget ahead, and trying to stick to it, may help in the long run.
- Stay Hydrated: There will be a lot of walking and standing, so hydration is important! Bringing a water bottle, and some snacks will be extremely helpful. Especially if you’re waiting in line for an event, and become thirsty or hungry. Check out this exclusive Dragonsteel water bottle I was able to snag at last years con!
